Recycled Busy Tube

Want to know what you can do with your empty pringles tin??

Here is a simple way to recycle your empty tin into a busy tube for your little learner.

This tube is a great way to encourage fine motor skills as your little one sticks each coloured felt and posts the coloured paddle pop sticks.

The busy tube also encourages lots of other learning skills such as;

  1. Colour recognition
  2. Sensory development
  3. Counting
  4. Sorting
  5. Hand eye coordination

All you need is;

  • Pringles tin
  • Felt pieces
  • Velcro sticky dots
  • Coloured Markers
  • White card stock (23cm x 22.5cm)
  • Scissors
  • Sticky Tape

To start creating your busy tin you will need to make sure that your tin is empty and clean. You can do this by using some cleaning wipes.

Step 1.
Take your paper and wrap it around your tin, use the stick tape to hold the paper in place.

Step 2.
Take your coloured markers that match your felt pieces and draw circles around the whole tin (3.5cm in diameter). Depending on how much felt you have for each colour, you can either add two circles of each colour like what i have done or more.

Here is the template circle I used for my tin. Click the image below to get your template.

Step 3.
Take your circle template and cut out two circles for each coloured felt. Add your velcro spots to the felt circles and the coloured circles on your tin.

Step 4.
Take your Pringles lid and cut out small slits using a safety knife (2cm x 1cm). This is for the paddle pop sticks to fit through.

Step 5.
Add your lid and add all the felt spots to the tin…Hooray you have made yourself a busy baby tube!
