Playdough is such a wonderful sensory item. It can be used with so many resources and added to different invitations of play.
Playdough can be altered to give out a scent to make your little ones play experience more exciting. This material is fantastic for manipulating, and moulding between little fingers and not to mention the cheapest of all play resources!
This recipe uses food based products which can be found in your pantry, therefore making it super friendly for little ones.
- 2 Cups flour
- 1 Cup salt
- 2 TBL oil
- 4 TBL cream of tartar
- 2 Cups boiled water
- Food colouring (optional)
Take a deep mixing bowl and add all the dry ingredients.
Mix all the dry ingredients together and add the oil while stiring it through.
Two ways to colour your playdough.
1. Add to your boiled water
2. Kneed through your dough once it’s made. (Make sure to wear gloves, this stops the dye from colouring your hands).
Take your boiled water and carefully pour it in the bowl with your dry ingredients. Make sure to add small amounts at a time while continuing to mix.
Once your ingredients start to form together, take it out the bowl and begin to carefully kneed. Keep in mind your mixture will be very hot, as this helps the ingredients to form. Once it’s all kneeded you should now have a soft and pliable dough.
